Jakob Gottschau holds a Master’s degree in science technology and sociology at Roskilde University, Denmark, 1984. Founded Express TV-production in 1997

He has produced and directed TV-series and documentaries in co-production with Nordic Broadcasters YLE, NRK and DR. And he has a comprehensive experience from producing in Developing Countries.

2006
Executive Producer for EBU "Grass-roots", a tv-series about grasssroots movement in Europe with participation by the following countries: Poland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Ukrania.


2005
Produced and Directed: Late Lessons from Early Warnings - four historical programmes about our ability to respond to knowledge and warnings:
Lead for Life: - the history of Leaded gasoline, Cities of Smog – the history of Air pollution, A Predictable Catastrophe – the history of Aral Sea, Evil Dust – the history of Asbestos. A co-production between DR and Express TV-production, supported by YLE, UR, NRK, The Danish Film Institute, Danida and the Ministry of Education. Completed and broadcasted in spring 2005.

Four new programmes in the series “Late Lessons from Early Warnings” are in production: The History of Tobacco, the History of Antibiotics, The History of the Ozone Hole, and the History of PCBs

2005
Executive Producer for EBU on "People on the Move", a European tv-series about the history of Immigration with participation by the following countries: Poland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland and Marocco.
2003
Produced and directed “100 Years of Emigration” a historical series of 6 programmes about how emigrants in the 20th century coped with the Danish society - and how the Danes coped with them. Produced by Express TV-production for the national Danish broadcaster, DR.

2002
Produced and directed ”The Golden Rice”, about a genetically modified rice plant that have had two genes implanted from a daffodil making the plant able to produce Vitamin A.

Produced and directed the series: “Shadows of the Past”, 3 documentaries about reconciliation in Cambodia, Guatemala and South Africa. About how countries, which have suffered from internal military conflicts now is trying to deal with, it’s past. Produced by Express TV-production in co-production with DR and YLE. Broadcasted in 2002.

Produced and directed “Where the Rainbow Begins” about 24 black, coloured and white high school students on a “Rainbow camp” outside Cape Town discussing racism, cultural differences and the future for the nation of South Africa. Produced by Express TV-production in co-production with DR and YLE. Broadcasted in 2002.

Directed “Vesterbro in Africa”, a short documentary about the Danish youth choir visiting the townships of Durban during the UN racism conference in South Africa. Broadcast by TV2, Denmark

2000
Produced and directed “The Miraculous Poison” about the history of DDT - from blessing and Nobel prize in 1948 to curse in the 70ies and the continued use in developing countries. Produced by Express TV-production in co-production with DR, YLE - Finland and NRK - Norway.
Broadcasted nationally in Denmark, DR Norway, NRK and Finland YLE. December 2000.

Directed “The Asian Connection” about how Scandinavian companies in Bangladesh and Pakistan do not follow their own “Code of Conduct” when is comes to workers rights and rules set up by ILO. Produced by Agenda. Distributed to Danish Schools and libraries. Supported with grants from:

Directed ”Ecuador's Black Gold”, about Texaco’s oil pollution of the Amazonian rainforest in Ecuador, Danish National Television, DR, September 1998, part of it shown nation-wide in USA at ABC-Nightline November 1998. Produced by Easyfilm A/S
Supported with grants from Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DANIDA.

Directed and produced “AIDS on board” about how Danish sailors copes with the high rate of HIV. Produced by Express TV-production for Sundhedsstyrelsen (the National Health Service). Shown for sailors and seamen at Danish registered cargo boats.

Directed ”Made in Denmark”, about Danish export of extremely toxic chemicals to Central America, shown at National Danish Television, DR, May 1997, part of it shown at Nicaraguan TV 1997. Produced by “TV94”. Supported with grants from the National Danish Union.
Nominated to “Cavling Prisen”, the most honourable journalist prize in Denmark

1996
Directed ”Exit Denmark” - about Danish export of hazardous work and machines to Poland and China. Broadcasted by National Danish Television, DR, June 1996, and broadcasted in some Baltic Countries. Produced by “Mediehuset”

 International Prize
The three films "At the Bottom of the World" has been accepted at several international filmfestivals in Europe and US. "When the Rain Fails" received a special prize at Envirofilm2008 in May. "The Beggars in Addis" has been screened at Hazel Wolf filmfestival May in Seattle, US, and has been selected among 1890 films for screening at Krakow Filmfestival in June.
The story about the Atomic Bomb "A Deterrent Weapon" has been screened at Techfilm in Prag and at Ecovision, Palermo Italy in june.
